Etheringtons

  • Completed 2004

Etherington Solicitors are located within an old bank chamber in a 1950s commercial building in North Sydney.

The strength of the axial and symmetrical planning, repetition of timber-framed elements, and a neutral palette of natural materials created the space’s timeless simplicity and elegance.

The design seamlessly blends the existing travertine wall and floor in the foyer with new, contemporary elements. Pale timber screens, partitions, and joinery, along with natural linen wall panels, provide a fresh and modern twist to the traditional solicitor’s office.

Glazed clerestory windows above the sliding door and joinery datum emphasise the height and length of the old bank chamber and enable light to filter throughout the offices from the windows to both street frontages.
