Southern Highlands House
The Moss Vale House repurposes 25-year-old concrete slabs to form the lower-ground and ground-floor levels for a new house.
Basalt rock found in abundance over the site will be used to clad the lower-ground-level walls, anchoring the podium into the landscape. The exterior framework of the ground floor will be constructed using timbers from old rural bridges, which have been collected and stockpiled on-site for the past 25 years. The old timbers will also be milled into boards for the internal flooring, soffit lining, and external cladding.
